Well, okay, maybe not in human form, but Mermaid Gin is now available across 45 M&S stores in the south of England.
Mermaid Gin is distilled on the Isle of Wight, alongside the Navy Strength Gin (available in Portsmouth) and a soon to come blush gin!
I headed over to M&S new pop-up bar Mast and Sail, located in their Cowes store to sample some of this divine gin and of course grab a few picky bits from their new summer range.
The evening started with Malcolm from the distillery explaining what went into Mermaid Gin to make it taste so good, the ingredients are local and the gin is distilled 6 times compared with most gins who only distil 3 times.
We then had the opportunity to make our own Cowes Week cocktail, designed by M&S to compliment Mermaid Gin, it included M&S Elderflower Soda, Fever Tree Tonic and some fresh lemon.
The combination was delicious – if not slightly lethal – due to the smooth nature of the gin. We were taught some interesting cocktail moves, many of which I still have yet to master! As much fun as the evening was, the stand-out item had to be the gin itself, smooth and tasty, it’s definitely a favourite of mine.
Don’t believe me? Or simply want to try it yourself? Head down to Mast and Saily to try a tasting. If Ale is more your tiple, then you can also try their own brew Ale of Wight.
