£470. That is how much on average we throw in the bin; in terms of food. According the Love Food Hate Waste, we throw away 7 million tonnes of food and drink from our homes every year in the UK.

This information for most is shocking, however for students its a major problem. We struggle with money as is, we don’t want to get to the point where we start throwing out of date food away.

So what can be done? Well, it’s worth taking a look at how long you can store food for, although when you buy products they will have a use by date on them you don’t always have to store food in the way supermarkets do.
